London wins tough contest against Chatham, 4-2

The London Nationals and the Chatham Maroons were evenly matched throughout their contest, but London made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Tanner Ferreira at 5:07 of the second period.

The win gave the Nationals a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

London was paced by Kyle L Robinson, who finished with one goal. Robinson scored 15:36 into the third period to make the score 3-1 London. Drew Worrad provided the assist.

Chatham was unable to stop the Nationals from sending pucks towards the net, and London eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

London also got points from Derek Todosichuk, who also had one goal and one assist and Austin Kemp, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, London received assists from Kevin Madden, who had two and Derek Di Iorio and Callum Ruddock, who each chipped in one.

The Maroons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Chatham's offense rang up 33 shots on the Nationals' net.

The Maroons were helped by Gus Ford, who racked up one goal. Ford scored 19:35 into the third period to make the score 3-2 London. Steven Szekesy picked up the assist. Chatham additionally got points from Szekesy, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Chatham came via Brayden Hopkins, who had one and Brennan Feasey, who had two.

Justin Tugwell recorded 31 saves for London. The Nationals incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jake Patterson made 27 saves for Chatham on 30 shots. The Maroons incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
