Sarnia wins tough contest against St. Thomas, 3-2

The game between the Sarnia Legionnaires and the St. Thomas Stars was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Sarnia emerged with a 3-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Cody Trowell secured the win for the Legionnaires with a goal in the third period.

With the win, Sarnia evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

The Legionnaires pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Sarnia was led by Trowell, who registered one goal and one assist. Trowell scored 16:00 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Sarnia. Ryan Trottier picked up the assist.

Sarnia also had goals scored by Davis Boyer and Brandon Layman, who scored one goal each. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Cameron Clarke, who had one.

St. Thomas was helped by Jordan Babb, who tallied one goal. Babb scored on the power play 12:17 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Stars had gained a power play chance when Nathan Mater was whistled for slashing. Carson Moniz assisted on the tally. St. Thomas also got a goal from Jay Dekker as well. More assists for St. Thomas came via Carter McCormick, Carson Brookshaw, and Carson Kennes, who each chipped in one.

Andrew Masters rejected 24 shots on goal for the Legionnaires. Sarnia registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Brendan Polasek recorded 26 saves for St. Thomas. The Stars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
