Elmira survives Brampton comeback, wins 3-2

The Elmira Sugar Kings survived a determined comeback attempt by the Brampton Bombers on the way to a 3-2 win.

A goal by Cash Seraphim put Elmira up 3-0 in the second period, but Brampton pulled to within one on Noah Robinson's tally 15:36 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, the Bombers face elimination next time out.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 4:31 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Elmira also had goals scored by Mac Clutsam and Klayton Hoelscher, who each put in one. More assists for Elmira came via Rob Kohli, Alex Mutton, Zac Coulter, Mitch Wright, and Chad Herron, who contributed one each.

Brampton was helped by Brad Bollert, who registered one goal and one assist. Bollert scored on the power play 6:43 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Elmira. The Bombers had gotten the advantage when the Sugar Kings' Clutsam was sent off for handling the puck. Shawn Madden picked up the assist. Brampton additionally got points from Robinson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Brampton received assists from Jordan Crocker, who had one.

Elmira's Jonathan Reinhart stopped 14 shots out of the 16 that he faced. The Sugar Kings totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Elmira, Steven Jakiela was ejected from the game. Shane Dietl rejected 26 shots on goal for Brampton. The Bombers totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Team's Robert Orlando and Cameron DeFazio were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
