Dundas rolls over Whitby, 8-3

The Dundas Real McCoys had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Whitby Dunlops.

The win by Dundas clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

The Real McCoys got the win with help from a great game by Cam Watson, who had two goals and one assist. Watson scored the first of his two goals at 5:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dundas. Darryl Smith picked up the assist. Watson's next tally made the score 4-1 Dundas with 16:21 left in the second period.

Dundas' penalty kill excelled, as the Real McCoys gave up zero goals despite allowing 11 power plays.

Dundas stifled Whitby's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dunlops were unable to stop the Real McCoys from sending pucks towards the net, and Dundas eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Dundas additionally got points from Jeff White, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Smith, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Greg Stewart, who also registered two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Dundas included Beni Berisha and Chris McGuffin, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dundas received assists from Steve Hurst, who had three and Shawn Snider, Brad Bonello, Jake Guindon, and Brett Smith, who each chipped in one.

Whitby's offense rang up 36 shots on the Real McCoys' net.

The Dunlops were helped by Kyle Musselman, who grabbed one goal. Musselman scored 4:26 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Dundas. Chris Eade provided the assist. Whitby also had goals scored by Jared Docking and Matthew Baxter, who each put in one. More assists for Whitby came via Scott Freeman and Brett McConnachie, who contributed one each.

Mike Mole recorded 33 saves for Dundas. The Real McCoys incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Jason Guy rejected 34 shots on goal for Whitby. The Dunlops incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
