Huge game by Hladin boosts Georgetown over Buffalo, 5-2

The Georgetown Raiders' Steve Hladin had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.

Hladin scored on the power play at 14:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown and again while 6:16 into the second to make the score 2-1 Georgetown.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Buffalo faces elimination next time out.

Georgetown pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 32 penalty minutes.

The Raiders forced Jr. Sabres' goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 35 shots and forcing 30 saves. Nate Skidmore made 15 stops and Alex Connal made 15. Georgetown stifled the Jr. Sabres' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Georgetown also got points from Anthony Marra, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Blake Jones, who also had one goal and one assist. Josh Dickinson also scored for Georgetown. More assists for Georgetown came via Liam Clare, Scott Emerson, and John Adams, who each chipped in one and Jordan Brown and Thomas Welsh, who contributed two each.

Buffalo was led by Josh Gabriel, who tallied one goal. Gabriel scored 42 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brenden Dunning picked up the assist. Buffalo also got a goal from David Baskerville as well. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Tim Nicksic, Christopher Berger, and Daniel Lafontaine, who each chipped in one.

Jack LaFontaine recorded 26 saves for the Raiders. Georgetown registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For the Raiders, Nick Iafrate was ejected from the game. The Jr. Sabres incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
