Georgetown rolls over Buffalo, 5-0Alcott Sat, Feb 28, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Georgetown Raiders had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-0 win over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres. The win moved Georgetown to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. The Raiders pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes. Georgetown was led by Eric Eustace, who finished with one goal. Eustace scored 13:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. John Adams assisted on the tally. The Raiders forced Jr. Sabres' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 44 shots and forcing 39 saves. Alex Connal made 27 stops and Nate Skidmore made 12. Georgetown's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Buffalo power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Georgetown additionally got points from Steve Hladin, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Anthony Marra, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Georgetown also had goals scored by Thomas Welsh and Blake Jones, who each put in one. More assists for Georgetown came via Scott Emerson, who had one and Liam Clare, who had three. Jack LaFontaine made 20 saves for the Raiders on 20 shots. Georgetown registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. Buffalo incurred 56 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors.
