Perth Pelicans survives Perth Sharks comeback, wins 6-4

Perth Sharks tried to dig itself out of a four-goal hole, but Perth Pelicans held on for a 6-4 victory.

A goal by Anthony Barnes put Perth Pelicans up 6-2 in the third period, but Perth Sharks pulled to within two on Tomek Sak's tally 14:11 into the third period.

Lyndon Lodge was all over the ice for Perth Pelicans, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Lodge scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:10 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Perth Pelicans. Perth Pelicans had gained a power play chance when Alastair Punler was whistled for delay of game. Rhys Dumpleton provided the assist. Lodge's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Perth Pelicans with 19:42 left in the third period. Dumpleton picked up the assist.

Perth Pelicans' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Perth Sharks power plays. Perth Pelicans outdid its season average for goals scored. Perth Pelicans has scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 32 shots on goal, Perth Pelicans exceeded the 2.9 shots it averages per game this year.

Perth Pelicans additionally got points from Kieren Webster, who also had one goal and one assist and Dumpleton, who also tallied one goal and two assists. In addition, Perth Pelicans received assists from Alastair Lambers, who had one.

Perth Sharks got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. With 40 shots on target during the contest, Perth Sharks exceeded the 4.4 shots it averages per game this year.

Mark McCann took the loss and made 17 saves before being replaced by Rowan Sobey who made nine saves. Perth Sharks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
