Michigan University of's comeback falls short, Miami University wins 4-2

The Michigan University of Wolverines almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Miami University RedHawks managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end.

Miami University led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the RedHawks' Hayley Williams scored at 39 seconds in the second period to put Miami University up 3-0.

Rachael Booth had two goals and one assist to lead the RedHawks. Booth scored the first of his two goals at 31 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Miami University. Williams picked up the assist. Booth's next tally made the score 2-0 Miami University with 11 seconds left in the first period. Nicole Matthews provided the assist.

Miami University managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The RedHawks finished below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game. Miami University kept Michigan University of's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kelsey Duggan made 41 saves on 45 shots.

Miami University also got points from Williams, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jessica Gould also scored for Miami University. More assists for Miami University came via Kaley Mooney, who had one.

The Wolverines managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Michigan University of ended up below its season average of 8.0 penalty minutes per game. The RedHawks were unable to stop the Wolverines from sending pucks towards the net, and Michigan University of eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Wolverines were helped by Jenna Trubiano, who had one goal. Trubiano scored 4:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Miami University. Monica Korzon assisted on the tally. Michigan University of also got a goal from Jane Dow as well. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan University of were Remy Tabano and Jennifer Cusmano, who each chipped in one.

Miami University's Emalee Wills stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The RedHawks registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Michigan University of registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
