The Penn State University Nitty Lions were firing on all cylinders against the Naval Academy Midshipmen, and when the final buzzer sounded Nitty Lions emerged with an 8-0 win.

Penn State University got the win thanks to a great game by Darby Kern, who had four goals and two assists. Kern's first goal came 10:15 into the second period. He then added goals at 10:30 into the second, at 11:02 into the second, and at 14:02 into the third.

The Nitty Lions managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Penn State University wound up below its season average of 4.0 penalty minutes per game. The Nitty Lions' offense rang up 63 shots on Naval Academy's net. Penn State University surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Nitty Lions average 4.7 goals per game.

Penn State University also got points from Katherine Murphy, who also grabbed two goals and two assists. Others who scored for Penn State University included Madison Smiddy and Riley OConnor, who each put in one. The Midshipmen managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Naval Academy ended up below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game. Penn State University's defense shut down the Midshipmen's forwards for much of the game, and Naval Academy got off only 12 shots during the contest.

The Nitty Lions took out Aimee Little after he had made five saves and installed Mary Kate Tonetti in goal, where he finished with seven saves and the win. Penn State University registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Sarah Hutchinson made 55 saves for the Midshipmen on 63 shots. Naval Academy registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
