Penn State University blows out Naval Academy, 8-0Brad Boss Ice Arena Fri, Feb 20, 2015 The Penn State University Nitty Lions were firing on all cylinders against the Naval Academy Midshipmen, and when the final buzzer sounded Nitty Lions emerged with an 8-0 win. Penn State University got the win thanks to a great game by Darby Kern, who had four goals and two assists. Kern's first goal came 10:15 into the second period. He then added goals at 10:30 into the second, at 11:02 into the second, and at 14:02 into the third. The Nitty Lions managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Penn State University wound up below its season average of 4.0 penalty minutes per game. The Nitty Lions' offense rang up 63 shots on Naval Academy's net. Penn State University surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Nitty Lions average 4.7 goals per game. Penn State University also got points from Katherine Murphy, who also grabbed two goals and two assists. Others who scored for Penn State University included Madison Smiddy and Riley OConnor, who each put in one.
