New Hampshire outlasts Maine, 4-2

New Hampshire and Maine were evenly matched throughout their contest, but New Hampshire made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Mike Callaghan's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

With the win, New Hampshire avoided elimination to make the series score 1-1 in the best of three series.

New Hampshire was paced on offense by Brett Bittner and Callaghan, who combined for five points. Bittner had two goals and one assist and Callaghan also notched one goal and one assist.

New Hampshire forced Maine goalie Lucas Osborne to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

New Hampshire also got points from Callaghan, who also racked up one goal and one assist. New Hampshire also got a goal from Andrew Gass as well. In addition, New Hampshire received assists from Alex Peddle, Simon Campbell, and Frederic Pugin, who contributed one each.

Maine was helped by Drew Lupardo, who registered two goals. Lupardo scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 New Hampshire. Maine had gained a power play chance when Nick Pino was whistled for tripping. Matt Jerome picked up the assist. Lupardo's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 18:46 left in the third period. Spence Cowand assisted on the tally.

Adam Higdon made 26 saves for New Hampshire on 28 shots. New Hampshire totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Osborne recorded 27 saves for Maine. Maine incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
