Valvo lifts Jersey Shore over Roc City, 5-1

Travis Valvo had two goals to lead Jersey Shore to a 5-1 victory over Roc City.

Valvo scored at 3:34 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Jersey Shore and again while 11:37 into the second to make the score 2-0 Jersey Shore.

The win by Jersey Shore clinched the best of three series at 2-1.

Jersey Shore's Marc Schlaeger was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 32 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, Schlaeger will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest.

Jersey Shore stifled Roc City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Jersey Shore's offense rang up 53 shots on Roc City's net. Jersey Shore got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Jersey Shore additionally got points from Ilya Spektor, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Arthur Raevsky, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Justin Apgar, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Jersey Shore received assists from Alexandre Racicot, Kevin Gruber, William Villeneuve, and Frederic Ampleman, who each chipped in one.

Roc City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jersey Shore to score on any of its three power plays. Roc City forced Jersey Shore goalie Schlaeger to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Roc City was led by Benjamin Myles, who scored the team's only goal. Myles scored 14:14 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Jersey Shore.

Jersey Shore incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Justin Nevinger rejected 48 shots on goal for Roc City. Roc City incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
