Wilkes-Barre downs Lockport in overtime, 9-8 (OT)

Wilkes-Barre's Jan Mendel scored 1:56 into overtime to beat Lockport, 9-8 (OT).

With the win, Wilkes-Barre avoided elimination to make the series score 1-1 in the best of three series.

Mendel had two goals and one assist to lead Wilkes-Barre. Mendel scored the first of his two goals at 19:29 into the second period to make the score 6-5 Wilkes-Barre. Kenny Myers assisted on the tally. Mendel's next tally made the score 9-8 Wilkes-Barre with 18:04 left in. Krystof Rykala picked up the assist.

Wilkes-Barre's penalty kill excelled, as Wilkes-Barre gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Wilkes-Barre stifled Lockport's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lockport was unable to stop Wilkes-Barre from sending pucks towards the net, and Wilkes-Barre eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The defensemen of Wilkes-Barre were also effective in Lockport's zone, and came away with two goals.

Wilkes-Barre additionally got points from Guillaume St. Germain, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Michael Tugo, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Rykala, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Derek Bureau, who also had two goals and one assist. Wilkes-Barre also got a goal from Austin Bandura as well. More assists for Wilkes-Barre came via Jonathan Wisten, who had one and Francois Lacroix, Zoltan Eross, and Daniel Leisser, who each chipped in two.

Lockport excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Lockport forced Wilkes-Barre goalie Kevin Quinlin to work between the pipes, taking 65 shots.

Lockport was helped by Ryan Logar, who finished with two goals. Logar scored the first of his two goals at 2:17 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Wilkes-Barre. Daniel Golba assisted on the tally. Logar's next tally made the score 7-6 Lockport with 6:54 left in the third period. Alex Bottenfield picked up the assist. Lockport also got points from Anthony Merante, who also registered one goal and one assist, Mark Friol, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Justin Blake, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Dillon Hayes also scored for Lockport. In addition, Lockport received assists from Jacob Burford, who had two and Gibson Stuart, Jordan Pocobello, Cole Brooks, and Austin Kasperek, who contributed one each.

Quinlin rejected 57 shots on goal for Wilkes-Barre. Wilkes-Barre ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. Lockport's Tyler Shotwell stopped 37 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Lockport incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
