Blenheim wins tough contest against Amherstburg, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Blenheim Blades escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Amherstburg Admirals.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Bryan Boersma's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

With the win, Blenheim avoided elimination to make the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series.

In a losing effort, Amherstburg was sparked by Cody Leeming, who registered two goals. Leeming scored the first of his two goals at 17:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amherstburg. Kasey Basile picked up the assist. Leeming's next tally made the score 2-1 Amherstburg with 4:21 left in the second period. Alex Popel assisted on the tally.

In the losing effort, the Admirals were led by Leeming, who tallied two goals.

The Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Blenheim also had goals scored by Matt Clark and Teddy McGeen, who scored one goal each. More assists for Blenheim came via Kirk McKillop, who had two and Dylan Muzzatti, Nolan VandenBoorn, Zack Horvath, and Hunter Burk, who contributed one each.

Amherstburg's offense rang up 34 shots on Blenheim's net.

In addition, Amherstburg received assists from Brett Banwell, who had one.

Klinton Kenney made 32 saves for the Blades on 34 shots. Blenheim incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Arren Romeril rejected 23 shots on goal for the Admirals. Amherstburg incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
