Ayr penalty kill dominates in 9-2 defeat of Paris

The Ayr Centennials, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Paris Mounties' power play opportunities and emerged with a 9-2 victory.

The win by Ayr clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Centennials were led by Jackson White, who tallied one goal and one assist. White scored 7:55 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Ayr. Colin Schuringa assisted on the tally.

Ayr forced Paris' netminders to work all game long, taking 36 shots and forcing 27 saves. Zach Shomphe made 16 stops and Davis McLean made 11. The Centennials was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play.

Ayr additionally got points from Jake Whibbs, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Riley Clipper, who also registered one goal and one assist, Quinn Diamond, who also had one goal and one assist, and Anthony Pullia, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Ayr also had goals scored by Tyler Mellish, Carver Ormiston, Eric Hackborn, and Felix Lantaigne, who each put in one. In addition, Ayr received assists from Will Rawski and Jordan Pettitt, who each chipped in one and Mackenzie Kemp and Andrew Richard, who contributed two each.

The Mounties were led by Austin Sine, who tallied one goal. Sine scored 19 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Paris. Mitchell Harvey provided the assist. Brodie Smith also scored for Paris. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Brady Wheelans and Clayton Chalmers, who each chipped in one.

Rawski rejected 27 shots on goal for Ayr. The Centennials incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Paris incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
