Griggs' goals lift Alliston to 6-1 victory over Orillia

Steve Griggs was all over the ice for the Alliston Hornets, as he tallied two goals in Alliston's 6-1 win over the Orillia Terriers.

Griggs scored at 19:31 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alliston and again while 15:08 into the third to make the score 6-1 Alliston.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Orillia faces elimination next time out.

The Hornets stifled the Terriers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Alliston's offense rang up 35 shots on Orillia's net.

Alliston also got points from Nic Archibald, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Alliston also had goals scored by Jamie Bennett, Tanner Dockerty, and Matt Hamilton, who scored one goal each. In addition, Alliston received assists from Connor Annett, Nick Arcan, and Ryan Lewis, who contributed one each and Jacob Tuck, Joe Cochrane, and Matt Taylor, who each chipped in two.

The Terriers found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 13 shots against the Hornets' defense.

Orillia was led by Ryan Tucci, who scored the team's only goal. Tucci scored 5:24 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Alliston. Matt Clifford assisted on the tally.

Tyler Brindle made 12 saves for Alliston on 13 shots. The Hornets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gordie Weiss rejected 29 shots on goal for the Terriers. Orillia incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
