Picton wins tough contest against Port Hope, 5-4Prince Edward Sun, Feb 22, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Picton Pirates escaped with a 5-4 victory over the Port Hope Panthers. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Austin Labelle at 8:59 of the third period. With the win, Picton avoided elimination to make the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series. Picton additionally got points from Brian Bunnett, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Picton also had goals scored by Taylor Brown, Nolan Van Vlack, and Chris Jones, who each put in one. More assists for Picton came via Shaw Boomhower APM, Curtis Colbary, Calum Kennelly, Devin McCann, Phil Smith, Corey Prince, and David Hopfer, who contributed one each. Port Hope's offense rang up 33 shots on the Pirates' net. The Panthers were led by Rory Milne, who registered three goals. Dalton Lawrence also scored for Port Hope. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Hunter Baker, Dylan Baxter, Chays Ruddy, Tyler Davey, and Nathan Snoek, who each chipped in one. Picton's Nick Kazmierczak stopped 29 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Pirates incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Port Hope's starting goalie, Devan Tremblay, made 16 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Branson Schell, who stopped two shots. The Panthers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
