Early goals doom Charlotte, falls to New York, 21-16

A four-goal first quarter deficit cost the Charlotte Hounds, which could not recover and fell to the New York Lizards, 21-16.

Tommy Palasek was all over the field for New York, as he tallied five goals in the win.

The Lizards made Charlotte's goaltenders to work all game long, racking up 47 shots and forcing 11 saves. Pierce Bassett made 11 stops and Jack Runkel made zero. New York bested its season scoring average. This season, the Lizards average 15.6 goals per contest.

New York additionally got points from Rob Pannell, who also registered five goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Steve DeNapoli, who also registered one goal and one assist and Paul Rabil, who also registered four goals and two assists. New York also had goals scored by Ryan Walsh, who had three, Jo-Jo Marasco, who had two and Matt Gibson, who had one. In addition, New York received assists from Ned Crotty, who had two and Kyle Hartzell, who had one.

The Hounds found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Charlotte has scored at the pace of 11 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Hounds were led by Joey Sankey, who grabbed three goals and two assists. Charlotte also got points from Mike Chanenchuk, who also registered two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Charlotte included John Haus, who had three and Jake Tripucka, Terry Kimener, Kevin Cunningham and Henry Lobb, who scored one goal each. More assists for Charlotte came via Justin Ward, who had two and Will Haus, who had one.

New York's starting goalie, Drew Adams, made 17 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Sean Brady, who stopped zero shots. The Lizards won 25 faceoffs to 11 for Charlotte. Greg Gurenlian won 25 for the Lizards.
