Marasco's big game bests Boston in 15-14 New York win

The New York Lizards' Jo-Jo Marasco had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 15-14 win over the Boston Cannons.

Marasco found the back of the net 9:23 into the 2nd quarter to make the score 6-6 and again 3:15 into the 4th to make the score 13-11 New York.

The teams traded the lead seven times. Boston took its last lead at 6:31 in the 2nd on a power play goal by Rob Emery to make the score 6-5 Boston. New York took over the lead for good with a goal by Matt Poskay 3:09 into the 3rd to make the score 9-8.

The Lizards made the Cannons' goaltenders to work in net, taking 44 shots and forcing 16 saves. Adam Ghitelman made seven stops and Jordan Burke made nine.

New York additionally got points from Rob Pannell, who also registered one goal and three assists, Ned Crotty, who also registered one goal and one assist and Paul Rabil, who also registered three goals and two assists to lead the team in points. New York also had goals scored by Mike Stone, who had two and Kevin Unterstein and Matt Gibson, who scored one goal each.

Boston put 49 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.3 it averages per game.

The Cannons were led by Owen Blye, who tallied three goals. Boston also got points from David Emala, who also registered two goals and one assist, Scott Ratliff, who also registered one goal and one assist, Ryan Young, who also registered one goal and two assists and Max Seibald, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Boston included Blye, who had three, Erik Smith, who had two and Jim Connolly, who had one. In addition, Boston received assists from Brent Adams and Josh Amidon, who each chipped in one.

Drew Adams recorded 12 saves for New York. Boston won 19 faceoffs to nine for the Lizards. Craig Bunker won 19 for Boston.
