Charlotte downs Boston in overtime, 12-11 (OT)Gillette Stadium Sun, Apr 26, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
An overtime goal by Kevin Drew in overtime lifted the Charlotte Hounds over the Boston Cannons, 12-11 (OT). Charlotte got the win thanks to a great game by Thomas DeNapoli, who had two goals and one assist. DeNapoli scored the first of his two goals at 4:01 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Charlotte. Terry Kimener provided the assist. DeNapoli's next tally made the score 8-5 Charlotte with 13:00 left in the third period. In a losing effort, Boston was paced by David Emala, who grabbed three goals. The Hounds' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Charlotte additionally got points from Jake Tripucka, who also registered one goal and one assist and Drew, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Charlotte included John Haus, who had three, Mike Sawyer, who had two and Josh Hawkins, Justin Ward and Ryan Flanagan, who scored one goal each. Boston's offense was clicking better than usual and put 45 shots on goal during the game, better than the 33.5 shots per game it averages. Boston also got points from Will Manny, who also registered two goals and one assist, Scott Ratliff, who also registered one goal and one assist, Rob Emery, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jim Connolly, who also registered two goals and one assist. Josh Amidon also scored for Boston. More assists for Boston came via Ryan Young and Max Seibald, who each chipped in one. Pierce Bassett rejected 18 shots on goal for Charlotte. The Cannons took out Jordan Burke after he had made 11 saves and installed Adam Ghitelman in goal, where he finished with four saves and the loss. The Hounds won 17 faceoffs to eight for Boston. Brendan Fowler won 17 for the Hounds.
