Campbellford survives Picton comeback, wins 5-3

The Campbellford Rebels, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Picton Pirates and clinched a 5-3 victory.

Campbellford led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Rebels' Jon Samis scored on the power play at 9:30 in the second period to put Campbellford up 3-0.

The Rebels got the win with help from a great game by Samis, who had two goals and one assist.

Picton's power play was ineffective against Campbellford's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Campbellford additionally got points from William Lameroux, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Colin Doyle, who also had one goal and one assist. Ethan McDougall also scored for Campbellford. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Josh Leavey, who had two and Jacob Bennett and Andrew Doxtator, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels were unable to stop the Pirates from sending pucks towards the net, and Picton eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Pirates could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 48 minutes in penalties during the game.

Picton was helped by Chris Jones, who registered one goal. Jones scored on the power play 10:33 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Campbellford. The Pirates had gained a power play chance when Josh Hodge was whistled for tripping. Corey Farrell provided the assist. Picton also had goals scored by Brian Bunnett and Mitch Burke, who scored one goal each. More assists for Picton came via Taylor Brown, who had two and Miles Levtov and Corey Prince, who contributed one each.

Cole Mahoney made 32 saves for Campbellford on 35 shots. The Rebels incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nick Kazmierczak recorded 21 saves for Picton. For the Pirates, David Hopfer was ejected from the game.
