Caledon falls to Penetang in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Penetang Kings' Brandon Frandsen scored 7:53 into overtime to beat the Caledon Golden Hawks, 6-5 (OT).

The win by Penetang clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Kings overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Penetang was down 5-2 after a goal by Caledon's Michael Andrews at 16:40 in the second period. The Kings tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Matt VanBoven at 16:35 in the third period.

Penetang forced the Golden Hawks goalie Sam Procopio to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Penetang additionally got points from Jordan Schwartz, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Penetang also had goals scored by Brad Kuepfer, Mackenzie Bumstead, and Jessey Moreau, who each put in one. More assists for Penetang came via Craig Robinson, who had two and Kyle Dedecker, Hayden Cole, Kyle Burns, Matt Meher, Ryan Hackett, and Aidan Robitaille, who each chipped in one.

Caledon forced Kings' goalies to work in net, totaling 36 shots and forcing 31 saves. Adam Redgate made 13 stops and Martin Lauzon made 18. The Golden Hawks did not rack up many penalties in the contest, racking up a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Caledon was led by Christian Mariconda, who grabbed three goals. Caledon also got points from Andrews, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Steven Klomp also scored for Caledon. In addition, Caledon received assists from Christian Bonaldi, who had three and Damian Caringis, Cody Forgione, and Daniel Cafagna, who contributed one each.

The Kings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Golden Hawks' Procopio stopped 30 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Caledon registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
