Penetang blows out Caledon, 6-1Penetang Memorial CC Fri, Feb 06, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Penetang Kings had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Caledon Golden Hawks. After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Caledon faces elimination next time out. Penetang was led by goalie Adam Redgate, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. The Kings' penalty kill excelled, as Penetang gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. The Kings forced Golden Hawks' netminders to work all game long, totaling 41 shots and forcing 35 saves. James Cyfko made 12 stops and Sam Procopio made 23. Penetang stifled the Golden Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Kings were helped by Matt VanBoven, who had one goal and one assist. VanBoven scored 15:47 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Penetang. Brad Kuepfer provided the assist. Penetang additionally got points from Kuepfer, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Penetang also had goals scored by Nate Archer, Matt Meher, and Michael Paul, who scored one goal each. More assists for Penetang came via Hayden Cole, Mackenzie Bumstead, Ryan Hackett, and Kaden Shearer, who contributed one each and Kyle Dedecker and Dan Hogan, who each chipped in two. Penetang incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. For the Kings, Kyle Burns and Shearer were ejected from the contest. Caledon ended with 59 minutes in penalty time with 17 minors and one major. Team's Steve Zeppieri and James Pitsadiotis were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
