Alliston blows out Fergus, 8-3Centre Wellington Sportsplex Wed, Feb 11, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Alliston Hornets had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Fergus Devils. The win by Alliston clinched the best of seven series at 4-0. Nic Archibald was all over the ice for the Hornets, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Archibald scored 2:47 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alliston. Matt Hamilton picked up the assist. Alliston excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Hornets kept Fergus' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Elliott made 50 saves on 58 shots. Alliston additionally got points from Connor Annett, who also registered one goal and one assist and Steve Griggs, who also grabbed two goals and four assists. Others who scored for Alliston included Jacob Tuck and Joe Cochrane, who each put in two. More assists for Alliston came via Tanner Dockerty, who had two and Jamie Bennett and Gianluca Pallotta, who contributed one each. Alliston's defense shut down the Devils' forwards for much of the game, and Fergus got off only nine shots during the contest. The Devils were helped by James Murray, who finished with one goal. Murray scored 10:30 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Alliston. Robert Ebach provided the assist. Fergus also got points from Joshua Schafer, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Fergus also got a goal from Griffin Heitshu as well. In addition, Fergus received assists from Mikael Ruffini, Joey Shaw, and Sam Natale, who each chipped in one. TJ Sherwood recorded six saves for the Hornets. Alliston incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Fergus ended with 61 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For the Devils, Murray and Mike Traves were ejected from the contest.
