Dorchester takes care of Lucan early, wins 5-1

The Dorchester Dolphins jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Lucan Irish, 5-1.

The win by Dorchester broke a deadlock and gave the Dolphins a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Dorchester's Kent Taylor was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Taylor certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.36 entering the contest.

Lucan's power play was ineffective against the Dolphins' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:49 into the third period. Eight fighting penalties were dished out along with six game misconducts.

Dorchester put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Irish to score on any of their 10 power plays.

The Dolphins were helped by Brendon O Shaughnessy, who tallied one goal and one assist. O Shaughnessy scored 5:49 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dorchester. Wade Russell picked up the assist. Dorchester also got a goal from Chad Brulotte as well. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Jordan Fuller, Michael Blue, and Liam Gillooly, who each chipped in one.

Dorchester totaled 70 minutes in penalty time with 15 minors and two majors and went 3-for-7 on the power play. For the Dolphins, Chris Carreiro, Tyler Kerr, Lucas Mastroianni, and Ryan Tuffin were ejected from the contest. Lucan took out Parker Merkley after he had made 18 saves and installed Riley Collins in goal, where he finished with six saves and the loss. The Irish ended with 58 minutes in penalty time with 14 minors and two majors. Team's Jamie Brzozowski, Jake Rody, and Grant Duffield were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
