Carreiro nets hat trick, leads Dorchester to 7-1 win over Lucan

Chris Carreiro netted a hat trick to lead the Dorchester Dolphins over the Lucan Irish, 7-1.

Carreiro's first goal came 7:49 into the second period. He then added goals at 15:20 into the second and at 7:14 into the third.

With the win, Dorchester evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Dolphins were led by goalie Kent Taylor, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Taylor certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.36 entering the contest.

Dorchester pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 62 penalty minutes.

The Dolphins forced Lucan's netminders to work all game long, launching 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Riley Collins made 29 stops and Andrew Ganter made zero. Dorchester excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing the Irish to get one power play goal on 11 chances.

Dorchester also got points from Jordan Fuller, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Dorchester also had goals scored by Mike Worby, Liam Gillooly, and Tyler Kerr, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Dorchester were Ryan Tuffin, who had two and Michael Blue, Tyler Blue, Brendon O Shaughnessy, Bryan McCauley, and Collin Hartwick, who each chipped in one.

Lucan's offense rang up 32 shots on the Dolphins' net.

The Irish were led by Jake Morin, who scored the team's only goal. Morin scored on the power play 7:08 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A tripping penalty on Fuller had put Lucan on the power play. Dylan Murray provided the assist.

Dorchester registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. The Irish incurred 76 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For Lucan, Mitch Morin was ejected from the game.
