Aylmer falls to Lambeth in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Nick North gave the Lambeth Lancers a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Aylmer Spitfires when he scored 10:11 into the extra period.

With the win, Lambeth evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

Aylmer could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. The Lancers made the score 4-2 on a power play goal by Eric Rivard at 14:46 in the second period. The Spitfires pulled to within 4-3 on a short handed goal by Luke Bettencourt at 14:12 in the third period.

Lambeth got the win thanks to a great game by Matt Schurr, who had two goals and one assist. Schurr scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Lancers earned a power play opportunity when Josh Houston was put in the box for charging. Kale Corbeth picked up the assist. Schurr's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Lambeth with 5:57 left in the second period. Warren Hargraves provided the assist.

Lambeth's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Aylmer power plays. The Lancers forced Aylmer goalie Lucas Easterbrook to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Lambeth additionally got points from Ryan Pennington, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Rivard, who also registered one goal and two assists. More assists for Lambeth came via Mike Frizzell, who had one.

The Spitfires' offense rang up 44 shots on Lambeth's net.

Aylmer was led by Dylan Salter, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Salter scored 19:27 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Aylmer also got points from Andrew Goldberg, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Cody Underhill also scored for Aylmer. In addition, Aylmer received assists from Tyler Marr, who had one.

JP Trudell recorded 40 saves for the Lancers. Lambeth incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Spitfires' Easterbrook stopped 33 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Aylmer incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
