Kincardine wins tough contest against Mount Forest, 4-3

The game between the Kincardine Bulldogs and the Mount Forest Patriots was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Kincardine emerged with a 4-3 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Chad Simpson secured the win for the Bulldogs with a goal in the third period.

The win by Kincardine broke a deadlock and gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Simpson had two goals to lead Kincardine to victory.

The Bulldogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mount Forest to score on any of its three power plays. Kincardine's offense rang up 39 shots on the Patriots' net.

Kincardine additionally got points from Patrick Wiejak, who also registered one goal and one assist. Shawn Moore also scored for Kincardine. Other players who recorded assists for Kincardine were Brycin Morrison, who had two and Alex Labrosse, Gerrit Satosek, Matt Baker, and Mike Smailes, who contributed one each.

Mount Forest forced the Bulldogs goalie Mitch Campbell to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

The Patriots were helped by Mitch Betts, who grabbed one goal. Betts scored 17:27 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Mount Forest. Doug Ardis picked up the assist. Others who scored for Mount Forest included Doug Costanzo and Brady Becker, who each put in one. More assists for Mount Forest came via Devin Williams, Luke Richardson, and Kyle Hunter, who each chipped in one.

Campbell recorded 36 saves for Kincardine. The Bulldogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. John Nixon made 35 saves for Mount Forest on 39 shots. The Patriots incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
