The Mitchell Hawks' Mitch Boertien(AP) scored 19:28 into overtime to beat the Walkerton Hawks, 4-3 (OT). The win moved Mitchell to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. Tyler Pauli had a great game for the Hawks, netting two goals. Pauli scored at 1:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mitchell and again while 2:42 into the second to make the score 2-0 Mitchell. Walkerton's power play was ineffective against Mitchell's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Hawks' offense rang up 46 shots on the Hawks' net. Jake Finlayson also scored for Mitchell. Other players who recorded assists for Mitchell were McKenzie Carter, who had two and Zach Goodhew, Bayley Boyes, and Colton Drinkwalter, who each chipped in one. Walkerton stifled Mitchell's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hawks forced the Hawks goalie Graeme Lauersen to work between the pipes, taking 70 shots. Walkerton was helped by Brendan Welsh, who had one goal. Welsh scored 9:28 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Walkerton. Tyler Cunningham provided the assist. Walkerton also got points from Calvin Penney, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Brett Coulson, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Walkerton received assists from CJ Arthur, who had one and Austin Russell, who had two. Graeme Lauersen made 67 saves for Mitchell on 70 shots.
