Hanover wins tough contest against Goderich, 4-2Goderich MRC Sat, Feb 07, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Hanover Barons escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Goderich Flyers. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jarrett Kuntz's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The win by Hanover clinched the best of seven series at 4-0. The Barons were led by Kuntz, who had one goal and one assist. Kuntz scored 5:07 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Hanover. Tyson Soers assisted on the tally. Hanover forced Goderich goalie Nathan Watson to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Barons got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Hanover additionally got points from Mitchell Pike, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Justin D Graham, who also registered one goal and two assists. Kyler Jones also scored for Hanover. The Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Goderich kept Hanover's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cody Van der Heide made 33 saves on 35 shots. The Flyers were helped by Joseph Dykstra, who tallied one goal. Dykstra scored on the power play 1:42 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Goderich. Jesse McIntyre picked up the assist. Goderich also got a goal from Cody McIntyre as well. More assists for Goderich came via Mitch Kuik and Brad MacIntyre, who each chipped in one. The Barons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Nathan Watson made 31 saves for Goderich on 35 shots. The Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
