Norwich completes comeback, beats Burford, 4-3

The Norwich Merchants climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Burford Bulldogs, 4-3.

Norwich never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Merchants trailed 3-1 after a goal by Burford's Broidy Rondelet at 2:29 in the third period. Norwich tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Mitchell Berzins at 11:56 in the third period. The Merchants got the game winner at 13:28 in the third period on a goal by Berzins.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, the Bulldogs face elimination next time out.

Burford's power play was ineffective against Norwich's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Merchants stifled the Bulldogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Norwich kept Burford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Riley Edwards made 28 saves on 32 shots.

The Merchants were helped by Drake Morrell, who finished with one goal. Norwich additionally got points from Berzins, who also had one goal and one assist and Braeden Shand, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Harlen Vanwynsberghe also scored for Norwich. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Troy Lamoure, who had one and Jamie Kelly, who had two.

The Bulldogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Norwich to score on any of its five power plays. Burford's offense rang up 38 shots on the Merchants' net.

Burford also got a goal from Kolby Francis as well. In addition, Burford received assists from Adam Harris, who had one.

Patrick Maziarz recorded 35 saves for Norwich. The Merchants incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. The Bulldogs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
