Rowan University beats Montclair State University 9-2 as Wright gets hat trick

Montclair State University could not stop Rowan University's Jessalynn Wright, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-2 win.

Wright's first goal came 13:39 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:08 into the second and at 9:16 into the third.

Rowan University stifled Montclair State University's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Rowan University's offense rang up 42 shots on Montclair State University's net. Rowan University found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Rowan University averages 3.8 goals per contest. Rowan University's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Rowan University also got points from Dana Dangelo, who also finished with two goals and one assist and Maggie Ford, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Rowan University included Tarynn Smith, Rachel Ferrante, and Dillan Madara, who each put in one. In addition, Rowan University received assists from Samantha Brunner, Cheyenne Matus, Lauren Cicatiello, and Laura Gedrimas, who contributed one each.

Montclair State University was helped by Brittany Meneghin, who had one goal. Meneghin scored 3:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Rowan University. Montclair State University also got a goal from Jenna Verrico as well.

Samantha Mazzi recorded 18 saves for Rowan University. Rowan University incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Emily Olshefski made 33 saves for Montclair State University on 42 shots. Montclair State University incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
