Grimsby downs Simcoe in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Matthew Jambrosich gave the Grimsby Peach Kings a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Simcoe Storm when he scored 1:46 into the extra period.

The win gave Grimsby a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

In the losing effort, Simcoe was sparked by Tyler Nagy, who grabbed two goals. Nagy scored the first of his two goals at 16:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Simcoe. Ray Munroe provided the assist. Nagy's next tally made the score 2-1 Simcoe with 3:57 left in the second period. Munroe picked up the assist.

The Peach Kings were paced by Jambrosich, who registered one goal.

Grimsby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Peach Kings' offense rang up 48 shots on the Storm's net.

Grimsby also got points from Steven Polich, who also had one goal and one assist. Grimsby also got a goal from Andrew Brown as well. More assists for Grimsby came via Liam McCrory, who had one and Malcolm Lynett, who had three.

Simcoe's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Grimsby power plays. The Storm forced Grimsby goalie Marcus Hlywka to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Simcoe's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

In addition, Simcoe received assists from Matt Small and Connor Mackay, who each chipped in one.

Hlywka rejected 34 shots on goal for the Peach Kings. Grimsby incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Storm's Nathen McKinnon stopped 45 shots out of the 48 that he faced. Simcoe incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
