Merry's hat trick boosts Picton over Deseronto, 15-0Prince Edward Tue, Feb 10, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Mitchell Merry lifted the Picton Pirates to a 15-0 victory with a hat trick against the Deseronto Storm. Merry got on the scoresheet 37 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 17:20 into the first and at 11:11 into the third.Picton gained an early advantage, leading 4-0 by the end of the first period. The Pirates managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Picton ended up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Deseronto was unable to stop the Pirates from sending pucks towards the net, and Picton eventually piled up 76 shots on goal. The Pirates found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Picton averages 4.3 goals per contest.
