Lade lifts Huntsville over Fergus, 5-2

The Huntsville Otters relied on the scoring touch of Evan Lade, who netted two goals, to beat the Fergus Devils, 5-2.

Lade scored at 2:51 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 2:33 into the third to make the score 4-2 Huntsville.

Fergus' power play was ineffective against Huntsville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Otters' offense rang up 51 shots on the Devils' net.

Huntsville also got points from Jake McIntyre, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Corey Miller, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Jesse Houlton also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Elliott Lade, Jay Dix, and Jamie Halnan, who contributed one each.

Fergus kept Huntsville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Connor Christanson made 33 saves on 35 shots. The Devils struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 56 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Fergus was helped by Reese DeBrouwer, who registered one goal. DeBrouwer scored 11:03 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Sean OConnor assisted on the tally. Fergus also got a goal from Tyson Bouchard as well. In addition, Fergus received assists from Griffin Heitshu, who had one.

The Otters incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Huntsville, Halnan was ejected from the game. Braydon Evans recorded 46 saves for the Devils.
