Nichols School wins tough contest against St. Michaels College, 5-3

The Nichols School Vikings gutted out a close 5-3 win against the St. Michaels College Majors.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Erik Urbank secured the win for Nichols School with a goal in the third period.

Griffin Lunn had two goals to lead the Vikings to victory. Lunn scored at 42 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Nichols School and again while 13:35 into the third to make the score 5-3 Nichols School.

Nichols School also got points from Anthony Scanzuso, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Sean Martin also scored for Nichols School. More assists for Nichols School came via Nick Passafiume, who had two and Cody Fleckenstein, Carson Gicewicz, and Keaton Arkeilpane, who contributed one each.

St. Michaels College excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

The Majors were helped by Marco Violo, who had one goal. Violo scored 9:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels College. Others who scored for St. Michaels College included Owen Ramsay and Michael Pontarollo, who each put in one. In addition, St. Michaels College received assists from Jack Edmands, Daniel Tyrrell, and Jack Clarke, who each chipped in one.

Jerry Baerwitz made 13 saves for Nichols School on 16 shots. The Vikings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. St. Michaels College's Edmands stopped 18 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Majors incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
