Early goals doom Denver University of, falls to Minnesota University of, 8-0

The Denver University of Pioneers fell behind early, and the Minnesota University of Golden Gophers kept piling on the points on the way to an 8-0 victory.

Minnesota University of got the win thanks to a great game by Jessica Nkhata, who had one goal and two assists. Nkhata scored 3:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Minnesota University of. Lauren Kirchoff provided the assist.

The Golden Gophers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Minnesota University of surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Golden Gophers have scored at the pace of 5.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Minnesota University of also got points from Rheanna Duncan, who also had one goal and two assists, Amanda Parranto, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Laura Gengler, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Sonja Stojic, who also registered one goal and one assist, Molly Sparks, who also had two goals and one assist, and Sarah Mayer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Minnesota University of received assists from Madison Ellis, who had one and Kelli Burstein and Melissa Drown, who each chipped in two.

Denver University of stifled Minnesota University of's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Golden Gophers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Pioneers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
