Rhode Island University of beats Northeastern University 7-4 as Darby gets hat trick

A hat trick by Monica Darby was the highlight in Rams' 7-4 win against the Northeastern University Huskies.

Darby notched his first tally 9:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:41 into the third and at 19:25 into the third.

The Rhode Island University of Rams outdid their season average for goals scored. Rhode Island University of averages 4.7 goals per game.

Rhode Island University of also had goals scored by Jennifer Pepin, Sydney Collins, Jillian Holden, and Bethany Saunders, who scored one goal each. More assists for Rhode Island University of came via Brenna Callahan, who had one, Jacquelyn Keable, who had two, and Kristy Kennedy, who had five.

Northeastern University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Huskies were led by Suzanne Kent, who finished with two goals and one assist. Kent scored the first of his two goals at 15:58 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Northeastern University. Michelle Macchione provided the assist. Kent's next tally made the score 3-1 Northeastern University with 15:06 left in the second period. Northeastern University additionally got points from Macchione, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Northeastern University also got a goal from Sarah Deslandes as well. In addition, Northeastern University received assists from Jacquelyn Podolski and Sarah Wilczynski, who each chipped in one.
