Lovestrom leads Southern Oregon Spartans over Springfield Express, 6-3

Johan Lovestrom had one goal and two assists to lead Southern Oregon Spartans to a 6-3 victory over Springfield Express.

Lovestrom beat Oliver Eklund with a shot 14:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Southern Oregon Spartans. Drew Carriere assisted on the tally. Lovestrom dished an assist on Anton Bokull's goal that made the score 4-1 Southern Oregon Spartans at 22:31 into the first period. He added another helper on Mackenzie Wood's goal that made the score 5-1 Southern Oregon Spartans at 55 seconds into the second period.

Southern Oregon Spartans forced Springfield Express' netminders to work between the pipes, finishing with 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. Eklund made 13 stops and Philip Babb made 17.

Southern Oregon Spartans also got points from Bokull, who also registered one goal and one assist. Southern Oregon Spartans also got a goal from Marcus Miller as well. In addition, Southern Oregon Spartans received assists from Doug Gutierrez, who had three and Liam Finn, Zach Lovelace, and Colin Elder, who each chipped in one.

Springfield Express kept Southern Oregon Spartans' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tymen Edelkoort III made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Springfield Express was helped by Seth Ensor, who grabbed one goal. Ensor scored on the power play 4:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Springfield Express. Springfield Express earned a power play opportunity when Denis Creighton was put in the box for roughing. Josh Cook picked up the assist. Springfield Express additionally got points from Vito DeVito, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Cook, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield Express were David Higgs, who had one and Eric Anderson, who had two.

Southern Oregon Spartans incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Springfield Express incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
