Ayr outlasts Woodstock, 4-2

The Ayr Centennials gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Woodstock Navy Vets.

Ayr gained the winning advantage on a goal by Anthony Pullia 11:19 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Pullia was all over the ice for the Centennials, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win.

Ayr excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Centennials' offense rang up 45 shots on Woodstock's net.

Ayr also got a goal from Brendan Schaefer as well. In addition, Ayr received assists from Coleton Madge, who had two and Riley Clipper and Andrew Richard, who contributed one each.

The Navy Vets were led by Dylan Wettlaufer, who registered one goal and one assist. Wettlaufer scored 7:16 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Tyler Lyons provided the assist. Ricky Johnston also scored for Woodstock. More assists for Woodstock came via Nick Mercier and Nathan Innes, who each chipped in one.

Ayr's Will Rawski stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Centennials incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Michael Roefs rejected 41 shots on goal for Woodstock. The Navy Vets ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Woodstock, Jeremy Racicot was ejected from the game.
