Kelly lifts Norwich over Delhi, 5-2

Jamie Kelly had two goals to lead the Norwich Merchants to a 5-2 victory over the Delhi Travellers.

Kelly scored at 3:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Norwich and again while on the power play 13:50 into the second to make the score 3-2 Norwich.

Norwich pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes.

Delhi was unable to stop the Merchants from sending pucks towards the net, and Norwich eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Derek Slaght also scored for Norwich. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Drake Morrell, who had three and Mitchell Berzins, Braeden Shand, Jesse Szabo, Harlen Vanwynsberghe, Troy Lamoure, and Brett Banks, who each chipped in one.

The Travellers were led by Brendan Schreider, who finished with two goals. Schreider scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Norwich. Delhi earned a power play opportunity when Patrick Maziarz was put in the box for delay of game. Kelsey Van Ymeren assisted on the tally. Schreider's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 12:15 left in the second period. The Travellers were on a disadvantage when Taylor Hockley went off the ice for checking from behind.

Patrick Maziarz made 20 saves for the Merchants on 22 shots. Norwich registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Mike Harrison rejected 35 shots on goal for Delhi. The Travellers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Delhi ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hockley was ejected from the game.
