Sydney Wolf Pack falls to Perth Sharks after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, Perth Sharks battled back to claim a 4-3 victory over Sydney Wolf Pack.

Perth Sharks never led in the game until netting the game winner. Perth Sharks fell behind 3-0 after a goal by Sydney Wolf Pack's Patrick Nadin at 1:29 in the second period. Perth Sharks tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Dominic Carlsen at 8:06 in the third period. Perth Sharks got the game winner at 12:16 in the third period on a goal by Carlsen.

Carlsen had two goals to lead Perth Sharks to victory.

Perth Sharks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. With 31 shots on target during the contest, Perth Sharks exceeded the 4.5 shots it averages per game this year.

Perth Sharks also got points from Tomek Sak, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Benedik Stolze, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Perth Sharks received assists from James Woodman, who had two and Ivan Ageev and Alastair Punler, who each chipped in one.

By firing 25 shots on goal, Sydney Wolf Pack exceeded the 1.7 shot it averages per game this year.

Sydney Wolf Pack was helped by Nick Air, who racked up one goal. Air scored short handed 14:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Sydney Wolf Pack. Sydney Wolf Pack played down a man on Nadin's interference. Sydney Wolf Pack also got a goal from Scott Clemie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Sydney Wolf Pack were Jackson Knott and Cameron Smith, who contributed one each.

Rowan Sobey took the win and made 20 saves before being replaced by Mark McCann who made two saves. Perth Sharks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jake Burgess made 27 saves for Sydney Wolf Pack on 31 shots. Sydney Wolf Pack incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Sydney Wolf Pack ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nadin was ejected from the game.
