OJHL Coffey uses shootout to best NOJHL,

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as OJHL Coffey defeated NOJHL in a shootout.

The shootout featured 12 attempts between both teams. NOJHL got a shootout goal from Brenden LOCKE. OJHL Coffey's other shootout goal was scored by Matthew Whittaker.

Dawson Theede was all over the ice for OJHL Coffey, as he racked up two goals in the win. Theede scored on the power play at 15:06 into the first period to make the score 2-1 NOJHL and again while 6:03 into the second to make the score 4-2 OJHL Coffey.

OJHL Coffey managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. OJHL Coffey ended up below its season average of 4.0 penalty minutes per game.

OJHL Coffey also got points from Abbott Girduckis, who also had one goal and one assist. Vince Figliomeni also scored for OJHL Coffey. In addition, OJHL Coffey received assists from Jonathan OHara and Josh Lafrance, who contributed one each and Andrew Coupland and Eric Williams, who each chipped in two.

NOJHL was helped by Brady CLOUTHIER, who registered one goal. CLOUTHIER scored 10:53 into the second period to make the score 4-3 OJHL Coffey. Ryan MOONEY assisted on the tally. NOJHL also had goals scored by LOCKE, Dustin CORDEIRO, and Luc SOARES, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for NOJHL were Nicolas SICOLY, Nathan CAMPBELL, Ethan STRONG, Jaren BALLINI, and Anthony MILLER, who contributed one each.

OJHL Coffey registered two goals on four power play opportunities. NOJHL incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
