Jersey Shore boosted by Schlaeger's play in net, beats Lockport 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Marc Schlaeger helped Jersey Shore defeat Lockport, 3-1.

Lockport's power play was ineffective against Jersey Shore's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Jersey Shore was paced by Travis Valvo, who had one goal. Valvo scored 6:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Jersey Shore. Alexander Tan picked up the assist.

Jersey Shore racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. Jersey Shore surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Jersey Shore stifled Lockport's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Jersey Shore was held below its usual level of production. Jersey Shore averages 5.2 goals per game. Jersey Shore's offense rang up 40 shots on Lockport's net.

Jersey Shore also got points from Ilya Spektor, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Alexandre Racicot also scored for Jersey Shore. In addition, Jersey Shore received assists from Antoine Gagne, Austin Crane, and Frederic Ampleman, who each chipped in one.

Lockport was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game Lockport had been spending in the box. Lockport's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Jersey Shore power plays. Lockport did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Lockport puts an average of 4.9 pucks into the net per game. Lockport kept Jersey Shore's goalie busy throughout the game, and Schlaeger made 34 saves on 35 shots.

Lockport was led by Mark Friol, who scored the team's only goal. Friol scored 3:02 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Justin Blake provided the assist.

Tyler Shotwell recorded 37 saves for Lockport. Lockport ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jeff Avolio was ejected from the game.
