Syracuse downs Lockport in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Syracuse pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over Lockport on a clutch goal by Felix Landry.

Syracuse came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Syracuse trailed 3-0 after a short handed goal by Lockport's Justin Blake at 6:16 in the second period. Syracuse knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Joey Dupuis at 15:48 in the third period.

Dupuis had one goal and two assists to lead Syracuse.

Syracuse forced Lockport's goalies to work in net, taking 37 shots and forcing 32 saves. Ryan Kostelnik made 12 stops and Tyler Shotwell made 20. Syracuse put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lockport to score on any of its five power plays.

Syracuse also got points from Braeden Pearl, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Landry, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Travis Hyde, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dan Tagliamonte also scored for Syracuse. In addition, Syracuse received assists from Charles Blais Dionne, J.C. Lachapelle, and Travis Bobb, who each chipped in one.

Lockport forced Syracuse's goaltenders to work between the pipes, totaling 48 shots and forcing 44 saves. Ludvig Kullen Dansarie made 24 stops and Ryan Scheide made 20. Lockport was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 40 penalty minutes.

Lockport was led by Anthony Merante, who racked up two goals and one assist. Merante scored the first of his two goals at 3:28 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Lockport. Frank II Vecchio assisted on the tally. Merante's next tally made the score 2-0 Lockport with 14:02 left in the second period. Lockport was on a disadvantage when Daniel Golba went off the ice for elbowing. Blake picked up the assist. Lockport additionally got points from Justin Durkee, who also had one goal and one assist and Blake, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Lockport were Mark Friol, Christian Whitcomb, and Christopher Gasiewicz, who contributed one each.

Syracuse incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
