Maine outlasts Syracuse, 4-3

Maine and Syracuse were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Maine made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Matt Henderson at 15:50 of the third period.

In the losing effort, Syracuse was sparked by Braeden Pearl, who registered two goals and one assist. Pearl scored the first of his two goals at 44 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-2. Valters Midegs provided the assist. Pearl's next tally made the score 3-3 with 13:34 left in the third period. Felix Landry assisted on the tally.

In a losing effort, Syracuse was led by Pearl, who racked up two goals and one assist.

Maine's offense rang up 55 shots on Syracuse's net.

Others who scored for Maine included Spence Cowand, Drew Lupardo, and Drew Sommerhof, who each put in one. In addition, Maine received assists from Noel Fischer, who had two and Ben Henderson, Zach Gagne, Ignat Molchanov, Nick Deveau, and Ryder Parkhurst, who each chipped in one.

Syracuse forced Maine goalie Jon Fields to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Syracuse also got points from Xavier Perron, who also tallied one goal and one assist.

Maine's Fields stopped 40 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Maine incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Hunter Andersen made 51 saves for Syracuse on 55 shots. Syracuse incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
