New England beats Cape Cod 3-2 after comeback scare

Cape Cod tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but New England held on for a 3-2 victory.

New England made the score 3-0 on a goal by Steve Crocker at 10:59 in the second period, and Cape Cod got as close as 3-2 when Colton Hart scored 17:52 into the third period.

New England was led by Henrik Nilsson, who racked up one goal and one assist. Nilsson scored 3:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New England. Crocker picked up the assist. New England also got points from Crocker, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Ryan Gauvin also scored for New England. More assists for New England came via Brian Glover and Justin Carchia, who each chipped in one.

Cape Cod managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Cape Cod finished below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Cape Cod's offense rang up 37 shots on New England's net.

Cape Cod also got a goal from Charles Antoine Malenfant as well. In addition, Cape Cod received assists from Jordy Knoren, Christian Holmes, and Chris Harris, who contributed one each.

Dalton Doire made 35 saves for New England on 37 shots. New England incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brent Petrowski rejected 24 shots on goal for Cape Cod. Cape Cod registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
