East Coast falls apart in second, loses to New England, 8-0

New England used a three-goal second period to put away East Coast, 8-0.

East Coast fell victim to a deadly New England power play, which ripped East Coast for four goals.

New England was paced by Steve Crocker, who racked up one goal. Crocker scored 18:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New England. Jake Latham picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:44 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

New England racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 59 minutes in penalty time. New England surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. New England put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow East Coast to score on any of its five power plays. New England featured an improved defense during the game. New England averages 2.8 goals allowed per game. East Coast was unable to stop New England from sending pucks towards the net, and New England eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. New England bested its season scoring average. New England averages 4.2 goals per game. New England's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

New England also had goals scored by Henrik Nilsson and Justin Carchia, who each put in two and Cam Webster, Taylor Farrow, and Brendan Miller, who scored one goal each. More assists for New England came via Brian Glover and Aidan Conlon, who each chipped in one and Ian McNamara and Tyler Duquette, who contributed three each.

East Coast forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 55 minutes in penalty time. East Coast had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. East Coast found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere eight shots against New England's defense.

Dalton Doire made eight saves for New England on eight shots. For New England, Webster and Carchia were ejected from the contest. Aidan Critchlow rejected 33 shots on goal for East Coast. Team's Marek Kocis and Tom Potter were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
