Syracuse falls to New Hampshire in overtime, 6-5 (OT)Cornerstone Arena-AUX Sun, Jan 18, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Tim Casey gave New Hampshire a 6-5 (OT) victory over Syracuse when he scored zero seconds into the extra period. Although New Hampshire was up by as many as two goals in the third period, Syracuse kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. Syracuse pulled to within 4-3 on a goal by Xavier Perron at 11:10 in the third period. Alex Peddle was all over the ice for New Hampshire, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Peddle scored the first of his two goals at 15:12 into the second period to make the score 2-0 New Hampshire. Brett Bittner picked up the assist. Peddle's next tally made the score 5-5 with 36 seconds left in the third period. Casey assisted on the tally. New Hampshire stifled Syracuse's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Syracuse was unable to stop New Hampshire from sending pucks towards the net, and New Hampshire eventually piled up 48 shots on goal. New Hampshire's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. New Hampshire gives up 2.0 goals per game. New Hampshire additionally got points from Casey, who also registered two goals and one assist, Mike Callaghan, who also had one goal and one assist, and Bittner, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, New Hampshire received assists from Mike Heffernan, Tyler Burton, and David Fish, who contributed one each. New Hampshire was unable to stop Syracuse from sending pucks towards the net, and Syracuse eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Syracuse also got points from Braeden Pearl, who also grabbed one goal and three assists and Felix Landry, who also registered one goal and two assists. Dan Buehler also scored for Syracuse. Other players who recorded assists for Syracuse were J.C. Lachapelle, who had one. New Hampshire totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Syracuse's Ryan Scheide stopped 42 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Syracuse totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
