Justin Carchia scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and New England held off the challenges of Syracuse in a tough 3-1 win. New England took over the lead for good with a goal by Carchia at 12:11 in the first period. Tyler Duquette provided the assist.Carchia had two goals to lead New England to victory. New England was led by goalie Devyn Levesque, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Levesque will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.93. New England excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. New England kept Syracuse's goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Andersen made 31 saves on 34 shots.
