Huge game by Merante boosts Lockport over Roc City, 7-3

Behind a great game by Anthony Merante, who had one goal and two assists, Lockport defeated Roc City, 7-3.

Merante scored short handed 16:14 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lockport. A tripping call on Daniel Golba put Lockport on the penalty kill. Frank II Vecchio picked up the assist. Merante dished an assist on Austin Kasperek's goal that made the score 3-3 at 1:49 into the second period. He added another helper on Nicholas Siracuse's goal that made the score 5-3 Lockport at 4:24 into the third period.

Lockport forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up four minors and three majors for 53 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game Lockport had been spending in the box. Lockport forced Roc City goalie Ian Stahl to work between the pipes, taking 58 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Lockport also had goals scored by Dillon Hayes, who had two and Jeff Avolio and Justin Blake, who each put in one. More assists for Lockport came via Alex Bottenfield, Jacob Burford, Jordan Pocobello, Christian Whitcomb, and Tyler Shotwell, who each chipped in one.

Roc City was often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and two majors for 50 minutes in penalty time. Roc City surpassed its season average of 30.0 penalty minutes per game. Roc City's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Lockport power plays. Roc City's offense rang up 42 shots on Lockport's net.

Roc City was helped by James Lockamyeir, who racked up one goal. Lockamyeir scored 48 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-2. Anthony DePetres provided the assist. Roc City also got points from Dominic Gruttadauria, who also racked up one goal and one assist and DePetres, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Roc City were Sam Cammilleri, who had one and John Wise, who had two.

Shotwell rejected 39 shots on goal for Lockport. Stahl recorded 51 saves for Roc City. Roc City registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
